Suspect in Swandale Drive shooting turns self in

Joseph Nayquan Kelly Joseph Nayquan Kelly
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A man wanted in connection with a shooting on Swandale Drive back on June 24 turned himself in, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Joseph Nayquan Kelly, 19, has been charged with attempted murder.

Kelly, according to sheriff's investigators, was smoking marijuana with a 28-year-old man inside a car on Swandale Drive when argument between the two turned physical.

Deputies say at that point, Kelly pulled out a gun, shot the victim, and then fled the scene.

The victim, meanwhile, attempted to drive himself to the hospital but passed out and crashed into a tree on Faison Road.

According to sheriff's deputies, the victim was eventually transported to Palmetto Health Richland to be treated for his injuries.
