WINNSBORO, SC (WIS) - A man wanted in connection with the murder of a 34-year-old woman earlier this month was arrested in New York Friday, police said.
Investigator Mike Carrell with the Winnsboro Dept. of Public Safety said Rochester police arrested Latroy Sampson after someone called 911 to report a suspicious person.
Carrell said when police responded, Sampson had a handgun and was charged with unlawful carry of a firearm.
Jennifer Monique Stone, 34, was pronounced dead on July 4 outside of a home on South Garden Street, Winnsboro Police Chief Freddie Lorick said.
Lorick said it appeared she died due to strangulation and they were waiting on an autopsy to confirm that.
An arrest warrant was filed for Sampson after Stone's body was found.
