COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Two people who are part of a multi-state crime spree that has seen thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and money stolen from independent jewelers across six states have been identified as suspects in a recent jewelry store robbery in Columbia, police say.

Columbia police investigators say Robert Antoine Weathers, 53, and Robin Tracy Nelson, 50, will be charged with grand larceny and criminal conspiracy once they are captured for their roles in the robbery at Moseley's back on June 14.

Police say Weathers, Tracy, and two others entered the store pretending to be customers.

Authorities say this tactic distracted the store's employees while Weathers walked behind the jewelry showcases and stole diamonds from an open safe.

According to investigators, store surveillance footage shows Weathers hiding a diamond tray in his jacket before leaving the scene.

The group, police say, have targeted stores in Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania and they wear different clothing and accessories in each heist.

So far, law enforcement officials believe the group has stolen between $350,000 to $500,000 worth of jewelry and money.
