Federal government rests case in Jonathan Pinson trial

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The federal government has rested its case against former South Carolina State University board chairman Jonathan Pinson after the defense called no witnesses.

As a result, closing arguments in the public corruption trial against Pinson are expected to begin on Friday.

The jury in this case has also been sent home for the day with instructions to return tomorrow.

Surprisingly, Pinson never took the stand in his own defense.

Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin, who was subpoenaed to appear in court, was also never called up to testify.
