ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Bond has been denied for a Fort Mill man accused of stabbing his wife and then hitting her with a rental car as they traveled through Orangeburg County to get to a cruise ship in Florida.

Michael Barber, 48, is charged with attempted murder.

Authorities say he and his wife were traveling from New York to Cape Canaveral after they missed a cruise ship to the Bahamas.

Investigators in Orangeburg say the pair missed a ship in New York because they did not have proper identification.

The couple then drove all the way back down to the east coast and picked up their IDs in Fort Mill to meet the ship in Florida.

However, officials say the couple got into an argument at the Interstate 26 Exit in Orangeburg County early Monday morning. That's when authorities say the assault happened.

The victim suffered severe cuts to her neck and other injuries.

There is no word on the victim's current condition.
