Richland Co. Sheriff's Dept. in search of aggravated assault suspect

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is asking for the community's help in identifying a suspect wanted for aggravated assault.

According to Lott, the suspect was attempting to steal merchandise from a store on Two Notch Road at 2 p.m. on May 29. The store employee confronted the man and asked him to put the item back before the suspect began assaulting the victim man times inside the store.

Authorities say the employee was punched in the upper body by the suspect. The suspect also threw objects at him causing further injury.

Lott says the employee was taken to receive medical attention for cuts and bruises received from the altercation.

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the suspect responsible. Anyone with information regarding the suspect is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC (1-888-274-6372).

Tipsters with information leading to the arrest of the could receive up to $1,000 for their cooperation.
