(National) Nov. 18, 2004 - The holiday shopping season has arrived, and the toy stores are stocked, "We do a lot of sales, and I know our competitors are also doing a lot of sales, too."
Kids are almost finished with their wish list, and parents like Synclare Moss are ready to shop, "I don't feel like we're going to get a better deal the day after Thanksgiving. I honestly feel like we're going to get the same price now," says one.
Carmen Davis says, "I'm shopping early, because I'm trying to beat the crowds," and parents are going to need all the help they can get this year.
So, WIS News 10 Troubleshooter Judi Gatson did a price check to find you the Real Deals on some of this season's most popular toys.
The Bratz are back, and they're as popular as ever. At Target the basic dolls cost $22.99. They're $19.99 at Toys 'R Us, but they're two cents cheaper, $19.97, at Wal-Mart
Among educational toys, VSmile is new this year, and it's popular.
The electronic toy costs $59.99 at Target, but it's $10 less expensive at Toys 'R Us at $49.99. Wal-Mart's price is still cheaper. The VSmile there is selling for $48.84.
Dora's Talking House has phrases in English and Spanish. The price tag at Target is $49.99, $44.99 at Toys 'R Us, and a few cents less at Wal-Mart, where it's $44.32.
For children ages two to five Discovery Village is a good choice. It's $39.97 at Wal-Mart and a few cents less, $39.39, at Target. But the Real Deal is at Toys 'R Us, where it's selling for $29.99.
Toys 'R Us actually has Elmo listed at $24.95 in it's toy book, but they just recently lowered the price to $19.95. At Target and Wal-Mart, Elmo will cost $19.72.
If you bought all of those toys, here's how your total bill would add up:
- Toys 'R Us: $203.84
- Target: $235.86
- Wal-Mart: $210.24
Wal-Mart says it will match advertised prices and Toys 'R Us will too, but not the day after Thanksgiving. Some stores are offering free shipping if you prefer to shop online.
