COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The man who Richland County sheriff's investigators say shot his girlfriend following an argument has turned himself in.

Bryan Cooke, 34, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

Deputies say Cooke and his girlfriend were arguing early Friday morning when it became physical. Cooke pushed the girl to the ground, investigators say, and got into a car to try and leave the scene.

According to deputies, the girl tried to approach Cooke again, but he pulled out a weapon and fired multiple shots at her, striking her once in the lower body.

The girl was taken to Palmetto Health Richland with non-life threatening injuries.

Cooke, meanwhile, was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he received a $100,000 surety bond.
