Coroner identifies man killed in Lexington crash

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

The Lexington County coroner has identified a man killed in a crash in Lexington Thursday afternoon.

Coroner Earl Wells says 22-year-old Gerald Zachary McKay of Columbia died from injuries he suffered in the collision with another vehicle on Highway 6. McKay was taken to the hospital where he died.

The crash occurred at about 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, McKay was traveling east on Highway 6 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Chevy van head-on.

The driver of the van was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

McKay was not wearing a seatbelt.

TheHighway Patrol and Lexington County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash.
