Lockdown lifted after 'perceived threat' at Shaw AFB

Posted: Updated:

Officials at Shaw Air Force Base have lifted a lockdown after investigating an unconfirmed threat at the base.

Details are limited, but Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis says the base was closed for a short time after a phone call indicated someone was on the base with a gun.

A statement was posted on Shaw's Facebook page a short time after the lockdown was lifted.

"Around noon today at Shaw Air Force Base, there was a perceived threat. Security Forces immediately established a perimeter and the base was put on lockdown. No one was injured, no shots were fired. The base is no longer on lockdown."
