Fish kill in Saluda River under investigation

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is looking into what caused hundreds of fish to die on the lower Saluda River.

Congaree Riverkeeper Bill Stangler says the fish kill is likely related to a spillway gate test conducted by SCE&G. DNR says the fish were blueback herring, and its likely it was a school of fish affected.

The dead fish were found near the Corley Mill boat landing near I-20.
