The Richland County Sheriff's Department is asking for help from the community in finding a person wanted for attempted murder.

Novie Kavallow Matthews, 40, approached the male victim outside of a Peeples Street residence around 5:45 p.m. according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. Lott says that Matthews went on to shoot the victim in the lower body as he was trying to get up from the ground after being beaten by Matthews.

Sgt. Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department says that Matthews left the area in a white 2006 Nissan Maxima with South Carolina license tag KBQ-836.

Lott stated that the event is related to an ongoing dispute between family members.
