Fire engulfs Northeast Columbia home, damages two others

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Fire engulfed a home and damaged two others in Northeast Columbia Tuesday morning.

The home, which is located on Summit Ridge Road just behind Centennial in Lake Carolina, caught fire sometime before 8 a.m.

Witnesses say the fire started in or around a car in the garage and spread to the entire home. A spokesperson for the Columbia Fire Department said homes on either side of the house that burned received minor heat damage.

Three people who lived in the home have been displaced. It is unclear if they were home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damages are estimated at $100,000.

Summit Parkway was closed while crews worked the scene.

The incident is being investigated by Richland County Fire Marshal's Office.
