Three Dutch Fork students have been won National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities.

According to Lexington-Richland School District Five, Jacob Baltzegar and Olivia Blair earned National Merit Scholarships from the University of South Carolina while Caleb Thomas was awarded a National Merit Scholarship for Clemson University.

"We are tremendously proud of Jacob, Olivia, and Caleb for being named National Merit Scholars," Dutch Fork principal Dr. Greg Owings said. "They represent the best and brightest of all students in the United States. I know they will continue to do wonderful things in college and beyond."

The scholarships are offered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, a not-for-profit organization. According to Lexington-Richland District Five spokesperson Katrina Goggins, seven District Five students have earned National Merit Scholarships this year.
