SANTEE, SC (WIS) -

The Clarendon County Coroner's Office has identified the two men whose bodies were recovered from Lake Marion on Tuesday.

Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock said 19-year-old Josh Owens and 21-year-old Timothy Leon Dixon were pulled from the water by the Department of Natural Resources dive team shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Officials say the two men and one unidentified female were out swimming when they became distressed in the water. It is unclear at this time what exactly happened.

"As far as we know from witness statements, there were three people swimming -- two males and one female -- one of the males got in trouble and the other male swam to him. The female made it to shore and the other two drowned," said DNR's Lt. Brian Corbett.

The female called for help, according to officials.

The bodies of both men are being sent to MUSC for a full autopsy.
