Midlands business owner slammed with federal drug charges

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The owner of two Midlands business could face up to 20 years in prison after DEA agents say he was selling bath salts in both establishments, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

DEA officials have charged Rafael Tynan Salas, Jr., 46, with conspiring with others to possess with the intent to distribute and to distribute chemicals.

Salas owns Alibaba's Pipe Emporium and Intrinsic Treasures in Irmo and Lexington.

Drug agents searched both of Salas' businesses on Tuesday and found numerous packets of "Black Diamond," the brand name of some of the illegal substances more commonly known as "spice" or "bath salts."

The feds are also looking to Salas to forfeit his businesses in the amount of $405,000.
