Wondering about those low-flying helicopters in Columbia?

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Many folks called the newsroom Monday night wondering why several low-flying helicopters were flying over Columbia.

Well, it's not SLED, it's not the Columbia Police Department, it's not the Richland County Sheriff's Department, it's not the Air Force, and we're definitely not under attack from a foreign entity.

So, who's behind the disturbance that has made plenty of you angry due to the fact that these exercises have occurred at night?

It's the U.S. Army, and these training exercises will be going on until Thursday.

"This training has been fully coordinated with local government and law enforcement officials and extensive safety precautions are in place to protect the service members and local citizens," said a news release from the Army.
