A homeowner is expected to be okay after two strangers rescued the person from a mobile home fire Friday.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to a fire at the home on Dover Street around 1:20 p.m., Brick Lewis with the Columbia Fire Department said.

As CFD units arrived they reported heavy fire and smoke from the front of the home and two individuals were assisting an individual in the front yard, Lewis said.

"It was determined during the investigation that two strangers that were driving through the area witnessed the fire and together rescued the homeowner," Lewis said.

Firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the home, Lewis said.

"The dog was revived by firefighters and a RCEMS Paramedic using a Pet O2 kit that was onboard a Columbia Fire truck," Lewis said.

Lewis said the home received significant damage and the cause is undetermined at this time.

A total of three adults were displaced and the American Red Cross is providing assistance, Lewis said.
