COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A mural painted by local artist Blue Sky has been painted over, according to a post on the artist's Facebook page.

Blue Sky's "Adopt A Kat" mural, which was formerly located at Assembly Street, was designed by the artist.

"So," reads the post on the Facebook page, "just learned Blue Sky's cat mural is no longer there, as it's been painted over by the building's owner. He had hoped it would encourage more pet adoptions."

Blue Sky is known for several murals and large-scale art projects around the Midlands, including "Tunnel Vision" and the infamous "Busted Plug", a large fire hydrant that spews water.

At last check, Blue Sky and the City of Columbia had agreed to move the hydrant to Finlay Park and use it as a splash pad for children.
