One to receive rabies treatment after cat tests positive

SALUDA COUNTY (WIS) -

One person will have to receive treatment after they were exposed to rabies from a cat, according to a news release from DHEC.

The state's health department said that exposure incident happened near Batesburg in Saluda county.

Health officials confirmed the cat tested positive for the disease. 

DHEC officials say there were 124 confirmed cases of animal rabies last year and there have been 43 this year alone.
