COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Golfers hit the fairway Wednesday, not to lower their handicap but to raise money for a little girl.

Oak Hill Golf Club played host to the Saving Eliza golf outing.

Eliza is the daughter of Glenn and Cara O'Neill of Columbia.

Golfers helped raise awareness for the family's campaign to watch and share a viral video on savingeliza.com.

Eliza was diagnosed with a degenerative disorder called Sanfilippo Syndrome Type A last summer.

Since then, the family has been on a mission to raise $1 million that will be used to fund a life-saving treatment.

The golf outing raised more than $20,000.

Glenn told WIS, they are getting very close to $1 million with the hope to start producing the medicine in the next couple of weeks.

The winning score was an amazing 53 by Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes, & Fries of Locust and they were nice enough to donate their first prize winnings back to Eliza.
