A civilian contractor has been indicted for stealing more than $59,000 from Fort Jackson's dining facilities, according to a federal indictment.

According to paperwork filed in United States District Court, Tamara Sharron Hart took the money from October, 2006 through June, 2013, while working at the base.

Fort Jackson public affairs officer Pat Jones said Hart worked for Johnson Food Service during the time of the alleged criminal activity. Johnson Food Service is contracted to provide services to all of the base's dining facilities, said Jones.

Fort Jackson's Criminal Investigations Division referred the case to the Federal Bureau of Investigation which then contacted the Department of Justice, according to Jones.

If convicted, Hart faces forfeiture of cash and property and up to ten years in prison.
