Town of Lexington unveils $620k welcome sign, landscaping

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

The Town of Lexington unveiled a new sign welcoming travelers who exit Interstate 20 on Sunset Boulevard Tuesday morning.

The project, which is located in front of the John Deere facility, was made possible through a $620,000 South Carolina DEpartment of Transportation Interchange and Gateway Beautification grant.

"This is our newest landmark and a unique feature for the Town of Lexington," said Mayor Steve MacDougall. "It's our first front porch to welcome citizens to our town."

The project, in conjunction with Lexington County and the Lexington Beautification Foundation included landscaping and signage. Donations were provided by Exit Real Estate Consultants, Springhill Lake Subdivision and Carolina Turfgrass and Landscape Supply.

MacDougall said the town is looking forward to expanding beautification efforts throughout the community.
