LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

A Lexington man has been arrested, accused of breaking into several vehicles parked outside homes.

Sheriff James Metts says deputies arrested Thomas Matthew Judy, 24, Sunday. He is accused of breaking into several cars parked outside homes on Willow Forks Road and Firbough Court.

Metts says Judy stole power tools, electronics and other items. He is charged with seven counts each of breaking into a motor vehicle and petit larceny, and one count of auto tampering.

The break-ins occurred Sunday. Judy was arrested after an off-duty deputy saw him running along Firbough Court and was told a vehicle on that street was broken into. The deputy detained Judy until deputies on duty could arrive.

Deputies say they found Judy was carrying items that had been reported stolen from the vehicle on Firbough Court. Metts says all of the items that were reported stolen were recovered.

Judy is awaiting a bond hearing at the Lexington County Detention Center.
