Two charged in plan to provide license for illegal resident

The State Law Enforcement Division has arrested two people accused in a plan to obtain a drivers' license for an illegal resident.

Ariel Fuentes Guerra, 36, of Beech Island and Kelly Rene Carcamo Medina, 38, of Lexington are charged with offering, giving, soliciting or receiving anything of value to influence the action of a public employee, member or official. Medina is an employee of the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Shop Road office.

According to the arrest warrant, Guerra offered $1,000 to Medina in return for a fraudulent drivers' license in December 2013. The warrant says Guerra is not a legal resident of South Carolina.

The arrest warrant says Medina was willing to accept $800 in return for the fraudulent license, which she agreed to acquire for Guerra. Medina told investigators Guerra gave her $200. The warrant says Medina admitted her involvement in the plan and completed a written statement.

Guerra and Medina were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
