GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

An old, losing lottery ticket has made a Goose Creek man $100,000 richer.

Brian McMaster entered his non-winning $5 FAN-tastic! scratch-off card from March 2013 into the South Carolina Education Lottery's, FAN-tastic! Second-Chance Promotion, and this time he came up a big winner.

A huge NASCAR fan, McMaster told lottery officials he entered his losing tickets into the drawing hoping he'd win one of the Special Insider trips to the Daytona 500 or the Bojangles' Southern 500 at Darlington. Instead, he is walking away with the $100,000 grand prize.

Over 87,000 losing tickets were entered in the Second Chance promotion.

McMaster had a tough time believing his good fortune. Officials say it took an email, telephone call, and a letter from the Lottery to convince McMaster that it was not a scam, and he did indeed win.

After taxes, McMaster will take home a cool $68,000.

According to the lucky winner, he and his wife plan on using the money to pay off their home.
