Police: Barefoot woman chases down pickpocket suspect in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A suspected robber has been arrested after a passerby chased him down and held him until police arrived, according to a report from the Greenwood Police Department.

The report said on Wednesday police were called to Grace Street Apartments after an elderly man with Parkinson's Disease reported having his wallet stolen while he was taking out the trash.

A witness said he was at the stop light on Grace street when a man ran into the side of his vehicle while being chased by the elderly man yelling "Help, he stole my wallet."

The witness said he then turned to his daughter, who he refereed to as "pit bull", and said "get him."

The woman got out of the car and joined in the chase, barefoot, the report said. 

On Lites Street, the woman grabbed onto the man's torso and brought him down, according to the report.

The woman told officers, "He is a rather small man, so he didn't resist much."

She said the man, who police identified as 51-year-old Michael Miles, stayed there until police arrived.

When officer's arrived, Miles said, "Officer, I did nothing wrong, I'm here because I'm scared," according to the report.

When Miles agreed to be search, officers found $93 in cash and a $300 check with someone else's name on it, the report said.

According to the report, Miles then confessed to stealing the wallet and told officers where he discarded it.

Miles has been charged with purse snatching.
