Inmate accused of threatening judge and family

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

An inmate in the custody of the South Carolina Department of Corrections is accused of threatening a judge, his family, and staff of a public defender's office.

Veda Sue Blevins, 35, is charged with two counts of threatening the life of a person or family of a public official, intimidation of court officials, jurors or witnesses and making a bomb threat. She is accused of sending a letter to Circuit Court Judge Craig Brown threatening to kill him and his family. Blevins also is accused of sending a letter to the staff of the Public Defender's Office in Florence, threatening to kill them by placing a bomb in the building.

Blevins was held at Graham Correctional Institution for Women in Columbia. After making the alleged threats, she was arrested by SLED officers and booked at the Florence County Detention Center.

According to the arrest warrant, Blevins confessed to the threats.
