Drug transaction shooting causes lockdown of two Richland One schools

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Two Richland School District One school went on lockdown for 30 minutes Friday morning following a shooting on Arrowwood Road, according to district officials.

H.B. Rhame, Jr. Elementary and St. Andrews Middle School were part of the lockdown merely as a precaution.

Richland County Sheriff's Department spokesman Curtis Wilson said a male victim was shot in the lower body during a drug transaction around 7:30 a.m.

The victim was taken to Lexington Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Wilson says investigators are still questioning witnesses and the victim.

Officials have not provided a description of a suspect or said if they are seeking anyone.
