RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has tentatively identified the man who was recovered from the Congaree River on Thursday afternoon.

Watts says the tentative identification is based off items found on the man's body and a missing person's report filed around the time the man jumped off the bridge.

Per station policy, WIS is not identifying the man by his name.

Natural Resources Department search crews recovered his body while looking for another man who jumped from a bridge in downtown Columbia two weeks ago.

Two officers searching the river found the body around 1 p.m. near the Richland/Calhoun County line, a DNR spokesperson said.

The search effort continued from April 10 when a man reportedly jumped from the Gervais Street bridge into the river.

Crews are still searching the Broad River for a man who reportedly jumped into the water off of Interstate 20 on Tuesday. DNR divers have been in the water for two days but haven't found anything.
