2 Tucson high schools make top 10 best in U.S.

Two Tucson high schools have made the top ten in a poll of the nation's best high schools.

Basis Tucson North and University High School were named among the top high schools in the United States, according to a recent U.S. News and World Report ranking.  U.S. News and World Report working with  the American Institute for Research complied the list. 

Both schools received gold medals - Basis Tucson North was ranked #5 and University High School was ranked #7.  The two schools were chosen based on the following criteria - performance on state assessments and how well they prepared students for college.

The top ten list consisted of high schools from Georgia to California and Virginia to Texas, with the number one high school in the U.S. going to School for the Talented and Gifted out of Dallas, Texas.
