2 former police officers indicted for using taser multiple times on victim

MARION, SC (WMBF) – Two former Marion Police officers were indicted on federal charges Wednesday in connection with an April 2013 incident in which they allegedly used their tasers multiple times on a female citizen.

A federal grand jury in Florence returned an indictment, charging Franklin Delano Brown and Eric Rayburn Walters with one count each of deprivation of rights under color of law.

 The indictment alleges that while acting as police officers, on April 2, 2013, Walters and Brown, and used unreasonable force by using their tasers on the victim multiple times, resulting in bodily injury.

Both men were relieved of their duties with the Marion Police Department, arrested, and booked into the Marion County Detention Center after the incident occurred.

In convicted, each defendant faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. This case is being investigated by the Myrtle beach Division of the FBI.
