COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

An Eastover man was arrested Monday morning for exposing himself to a girl who was walking to school.

According to a Columbia Police Department incident report, Herbert John Smith, Jr. was taken into custody around 8:15 a.m., shortly after the alleged incident.

A female Eau Claire High School student told police she was walking to school when she saw a black male expose his private parts near 4920 Monticello Road. When she got to the school, she notified personnel about the incident and gave police a description of the man.

During a search, a Columbia Police officer saw Smith, who began running. The officer was able to take Smith into custody. Smith was later identified by the victim as the person who flashed her, the incident report states.

Smith was charged with indecent exposure.
