Coroner: Train struck man sitting on track

Posted: Updated:

A 32-year-old Warrenville man sitting on a train track in Aiken County was killed when he was struck by a Norfolk Southern train pulling 73 cars, according to the coroner's office.

Coroner Tim Carlson says the man, identified as Robert Norman Bisou, died from "multiple body trauma" around 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

Carlson says the train's operator noticed Bisou sitting on the track only 30 yards before the impact and tried to hit the emergency brakes, but it was too late.

Carlson says a toxicology report is pending on Bisou's remains.

The incident remains under investigation.
