(WMC) - Decisions continue among Shelby County voters as they cast their ballots in the primary election. Polls open on Tuesday at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. at locations across Shelby County.

The vote that tops the ballot is for the District General Attorney: Incumbent Republican Amy Weirich runs against the democratic candidate, former television judge Joe Brown.

Followed by the race for Shelby County Mayor, three democratic mayoral candidates—Rev. Kenneth Whalum Jr., current county commissioner Steve Mulroy, former commissioner Deidre Malone—will run until one makes it passed the primary, where he or she will then face the republican candidate or incumbent mayor Mark Luttrell in August. Ernest Lunati is running against Luttrell for the republican seat in the primary.

Democrats hoping to unseat Luttrell met for a debate recently where they discussed city-county consolidation.

Mulroy and Malone agreed with aspects of that topic.

Additionally, Whalum floated an ambitious plan to utilize soon-to-be-closed neighborhood schools. Watch parts of the debate here.
