STEDMAN, N.C. -

The strong winds that roared through part of Cumberland County on Tuesday were a microburst but not a tornado, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.

The wind damage occurred 4.25 miles east of Eastover in Cumberland County around 7:20 a.m.

Winds were estimated in the 60-65mph range.

The National Weather Service said the storm survey was conducted Wednesday morning at the damage site, which included several trees and tree branches that were snapped and carried downwind in a straight-line fashion.

A mobile home owned by Buck Overbee was damaged. Overbee and his family and friends huddled against walls inside when the winds hit.

A large pine tree snapped and went through the window of his vehicle.
