WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A driver who struck a pedestrian early Sunday morning in Lexington County will not face any charges, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened on SC 302 near the Columbia Metropolitan Airport around 1:20 a.m.

Lexington County Chief Deputy Coroner Randy Martin said La Martz Brown, 23, of Cayce, died from a fractured cervical vertebra secondary to the motor vehicle accident.

Authorities said the driver will not be charged because the pedestrian was walking in the road illegally.
