ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office says a man wanted for child abuse has been arrested.

Michael Anthony McClellan is accused of throwing a 2-year-old, causing his leg to break.

"Officers were called to the Regional Medical Center at 10:43 a.m. on March 25 because a 2-year-old had been injured," said Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell. "Our initial investigation indicated that the 2-year-old and a 4-year-old were jumping on a bed when the 2-year-old was injured. Our investigation determined that the father Michael Anthony McClellan threw the child causing the child's leg to fracture."

Investigators said a witness, the 4-year-old, told deputies McClellan assaulted the boy.

"Any adult that can use enough strength on a helpless child to damage a bone, should not be hiding out from law enforcement," said Ravenell. "To the family members and friends who are helping him allude [sic] authorities, assisting a fugitive is a criminal act too."

McClellan was arrested Wednesday and bond was set at $15,000.
