Pedestrian dies after hit by vehicle

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The Richland County Coroner has identified a man who died after he was hit by a vehicle on Garners Ferry Road Saturday.

Coroner Gary Watts says 41-year-old Reginald English of Columbia died Saturday night at the hospital.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, English was hit by a 2009 Toyota SUV near the Blue Johnson Road intersection, approximately three miles east of Columbia. The incident happened just after 6:30 p.m.

Troopers say English was attempting to cross the roadway when the collision occurred.

The 28-year-old driver of the Toyota was not hurt.

No charges have been filed.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
