WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

On Friday, the Early Autism Project opened its West Columbia clinic.

The clinic will provide applied behavior analysis therapy for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new numbers estimating 1 in 68 U.S. children have Autism Spectrum Disorder, which is a 30 percent increase from the last estimate of 1 in 88 U.S. children.

"When you see these families, and they have these children with autism, they definitely want to find ways to get help," said Gov. Nikki Haley at Friday's ribbon cutting. "What we do know is if they have early treatment, there's a lot we can do for our children."

More than 52,000 people in South Carolina have been diagnosed with autism.
