Special needs bus rear-ended, no students hurt

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A special needs bus on its way to EL Wright Middle School was rear-ended Friday morning in Northeast Richland County, according to a spokesperson for Richland School District Two.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the bus was attempting to make a left turn from Percival Road to Old Percival Road when it was hit during a chain-reaction collision around 7 a.m.

Troopers say a Toyota pick-up truck was pushed into the back of the bus when it was hit by another car.

There were four students and a driver on the bus. All were uninjured.

The students were eventually taken to school on another bus.

The driver of one of the other vehicles was taken to an area hospital.

According to troopers, the driver of the car that initiated the crash will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.

The Highway Patrol is investigating.
