TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The standoff with a barricaded man in an Oro Valley home ended with the suicide of the barricaded suspect, authorities said.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Steven Wahl.

According to Pima County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Chris Nanos, the robots in the home near Rancho Vistoso and Tangerine showed the man motionless and surrounded by what appeared to be blood.

What sounded like a gunshot was heard at 11:54 a.m.

Authorities say the man is a suspected drug dealer who was traveling with a woman Tuesday night when they were pulled over in a traffic stop at Tangerine and Market Place roads at 10 p.m. The driver fled to Northwest Hospital.

The woman, 55-year-old Mary Margeson, ran into the hospital. Deputies followed her and took her into custody. She was taken to the Pima County Adult Detention Center and booked on the following charges: possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two outstanding warrants.

According to the a Sheriff's news release, Wahl fled on foot. While deputies were looking for him, officers from the Oro Valley Police Department were investigating a home invasion in the 12300 block of North Mount Bigelow. The suspect fled through backyards and shot at officers.

Deputies responded to the neighborhood upon hearing the gunshots and found a resident who said the suspect had entered his home was holding his wife and daughter hostage.

The Pima Regional SWAT Team was requested and before it arrived the elder woman was rescued by one of the deputies.

Wahl released the woman's daughter at 5:13 a.m.

SWAT negotiators continued to try to talk Wahl out of the residence until he eventually shot himself.
