Authorities: Man rescued after house collapses in Hanahan

HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) -

Officials with the Hanahan Police Department say a man was rescued after a house collapsed on top of him Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say the incident happened on Tampa Street in Hanahan. Emergency officials say the man was rescued, and appears to be okay.

Crews on scene told Live 5 News that the man was helping to take down the building when he got hurt.

According to investigators, the home was deemed unsafe for human occupancy on Oct. 25, 2013, and a demolition permit was issued on Dec. 6 of the same year.

Authorities say the home was beyond repair and structurally unsound.
