WIS hosts experts to answer questions about Affordable Care Act

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

If you have questions about the Affordable Care Act, WIS is hosting several experts in our studio Thursday evening to address issues.

President Obama set March 31st as a deadline for Americans to sign up for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act. People who have begun the open enrollment process but have not yet completed it may have an extension until April 15th.

WIS is teaming up with the Richland County Public Library, Palmetto Project  and Benefit bank to provide volunteers to answer questions and chat live online about the ACA.  Phone lines will be open from 4-7:30 p.m. Thursday.  People with questions can call 758-1020 during that time.

A live web chat is from 4-6 p.m. online.  Click here to ask questions online during those hours.

You can also submit questions to be asked of the experts live during the newscasts via social media by using #askWIS. The experts will share their information during the WIS evening newscasts at 4, 5, 6 and 7 p.m.

WIS is providing this information service due to the amount of questions people have regarding ACA enrollment.

On Monday, Anton Gunn with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said  about 56,000 South Carolinians have signed up for coverage through exchanges run by the federal government but there are about 750,000 people who are uninsured in South Carolina.
