Deputies: Masked man tried to rob Family Dollar

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is requesting the community'sassistance in locating a man who tried to rob a Family Dollar store last week.

The incident happened just before 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17 at 1735Decker Boulevard.

Deputies say a man entered the business wearinga mask and presenting a gun.    

As the suspect approached the counter, one person was able to escape and call 911 once safely outside. The suspect located a second person and demanded money from theregister.

After that person was unableto open the register without a manager, the suspect fled the business onfoot.       

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately5' 4" tall, 120 pounds, possibly 25-years-old, wearing a black jacket,blue jeans, black mask, and wearing gloves.
