COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Hundreds showed up to Jillian's in the Vista to shave their heads to raise money in the hope to find a cure for cancer in the 8th Annual Columbia St. Baldrick's Event.

"This year, we've set a goal of $100,000 and we've got an awesome start with almost $50,000 raised before event day," said event coordinator Krystle Eckrote. "I'm truly amazed, as every year we have more and more shavees signing up to show their solidarity and raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research."

Men, women and children braved the salon chair throughout the day.

At last count, over 250 people participated in Saturday's event, raising over $105,000.

Nationwide, the St. Baldrick's Foundation has raised over $100 million for cancer research.
