BLYTHEWOOD, SC (WIS) -

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has sent a message to a man who apparently mocked the department by posting a photo of what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette in front of a computer displaying the Richland County Sheriff's Department website.

30-year-old Jeremy Clayton was arrested Thursday after an investigation into two online posts led deputies to his Blythewood home.

Lott said a concerned citizen sent him the Instagram posts, which depicted a man smoking a joint and a hand holding a joint flipping off an online photo of the sheriff.

The posts from user jdird803 used various hashtags related to drug use: #420, #420Life and #BluntBlowing. Also included in one of the posts was the hashtag #RCSD.

The sheriff, who said the posts were "disrespectful" to the department, put his Drug Suppression Team on the case.

Eventually, the team tracked Clayton down and purchased marijuana from the suspect on three separate occasions, including one time from inside his home at 228 Cooper Lane.

On Thursday night, the team moved in and executed a search warrant there. Deputies found drugs inside the home, and arrested Clayton and 24-year-old Margaret Rogers, Lott said.

Rogers was charged with simple possession of marijuana 2nd offense and Clayton was charged with distribution of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

"Once again the great citizens of Richland County stepped in to partner with the Department in the efforts to rid our communities of drugs," said Lott.
