RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

One of the men allegedly involved in connection with a shooting that left himself and two others wounded Wednesday morning outside a restaurant has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Richland County Sheriff's deputies arrested 26-year-old Richard Patterson at Palmetto Health Richland several hours after the shooting.

Investigators say the shooting happened just after 4:15 a.m. outside Mobay Caribbean Restaurant and Grill on Parklane Road.

Deputies say an argument broke out between several people inside the restaurant before spilling outside. Investigators say at that point, Patterson ran over to the unidentified victim's car and a struggle began for a handgun the victim was trying to pull out.

Deputies say Patterson managed to pull the gun away from the victim and shot the victim in the lower body.

Moments later, officials say, a security officer at the bar attempted to get between the pair, but Patterson fired several shots at him as well.

According to investigators, the wounded officer fired back, striking Patterson several times.

Patterson was taken to the hospital by a group of his friends a short time later.

The victim and the security officer were also moved to Palmetto Health Richland with non-life threatening injuries.

Patterson will be transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center as soon as he is released from the hospital.
