One person airlifted after wreck on Hwy. 84 EB in Hinesville

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

A wreck in Hinesville has injured four people, including a soldier that had to be airlifted.

The wreck occurred on Hwy. 84 in front of Walmart when a tractor trailer going eastbound hit a van from behind and pushed the van into a vehicle in front of the van, sending it into a grassy area in the westbound lane.

A soldier was flown from the scene. His injuries and their severity are unknown at this time.

Three others were injured, and at least one was transported to Winn-Army Medical in an ambulance.

"Traffic was congested in this area; it was slow moving, and as the traffic light turned green, the transfer truck that was fully loaded proceeding east bound on 84, rear-ended one car, which was forced into another vehicle. The car that was caught in the middle, the injuries to the driver are serious, he's been life-starred out," said Bill Kirkendall, Hinesville Police Department. 

Hinesville Police are on the scene, and motorists are asked to use caution in the area.
