Charges filed against man after Chicago standoff

ATLANTA (CBS46/AP) -

A judge has denied bond for a 44-year-old man facing charges for holding police at bay for more than eight hours during a chase and standoff on Chicago's iconic Lake Shore Drive.

The Cook County judge said Tuesday afternoon that Joseph Felton would have to remain in custody as he awaits trial.

Joseph Felton is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, fleeing police and being a fugitive after police said he killed his wife, Sheray Latriest Felton.

Joseph Felton was arrested late Sunday, hours after his car crashed in Chicago following a chase from a nearby suburb. Police said Joseph Felton was armed with knives.

The chase injured four people, although none of their injuries were life-threatening.

Medical examiners said Tuesday that Sheray Felton died of blunt force trauma with an offensive weapon to include lacerations with an edged weapon.

It is unclear when Joseph Felton will be extradited to Georgia.
